What I’m Watching - Summer 2025

Ludwig - BBC One

Wikipedia lists Ludwig as a "comedy detective mystery drama." These are a few of my favorite things. The format is based on familiar territory, and it works. It's a well-done mystery of the week that offers a satisfying resolution at the end of each episode while advancing and carrying the larger narrative arc of mystery and intrigue. I'm excited for series 2.

Abbott Elementary - ABC

I ended up watching several episodes of Abbott Elementary on a recent flight to Mexico. It's a fun half-hour sitcom that's easy-going and reminds me of old favorites like Parks and Recreation and Modern Family. However, I'm not certain I'll keep watching this with any regularity, partially because it requires yet another streaming subscription.

Fallow - YouTube

Fallow is a restaurant in London that opened in 2019. I watch a lot of culinary content, and their videos started being suggested by the algorithm a while back.

Chef Will and Jack are very good at what they do, and both have a knack for being on video. The videos are entertaining and informative, and some of the tips are helpful to cooking mortals like the rest of us. They also have a series of POV, or point of view, videos, where you can see what one of the chefs sees as they work a busy service. These push some happy buttons in my brain, like ASMR does for some people. I actually find these relaxing, although I suspect my friends who are professionals in the culinary world would argue it's anything but.

What are you watching? I have limited time, but I enjoy quality suggestions from readers.
